DCWWers Awarded Social Citizen Award

 

Longtime DCWW members Shireen Mitchell and Jill Foster were awarded the Social Citizen Award (worth $1000) for their Apps For Democracy multimedia presentation. Apps for Democracy is a contest created by the DC’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer and iStrategyLabs. The contest asks DC citizens to come up with new solutions to DC issues using technology. The contest has returned 47 iPhone, Facebook and web applications with an estimated value in excess of $2,600,000 to the city. Click here to view the presentation.

New DCWW Workshops for 2009!

DCWW announces a series of 2-hour workshops for members offered by Westlake Internet Training, a DCWW sponsor.

Whether your interests lie in programming, design, interaction, or figuring out how to get that big project done on time and within budget, These workshops offer a quick look at some valuable tools and an opportunity to get hands-on experience.

This year's schedule:

May 13 – SharePoint Designer
June 10 June 17, 2009 Project Management for Web development
July 8 – Flash CS4
Aug. 12 – Dreamweaver CS4
Sept. 9 – Photoshop CS4 for the Web
Oct. 14 – PHP
