Search Engine Optimization

Why has search engine placement become a key responsibility for those engaged in Web site marketing? The answer is that between 85 and 90 percent of all Web traffic is generated by the major search engines. But simply having your site listed in major engines does not mean your customers will find it. Visit any search engine and type in a few words, like "Web Women." Depending on the engine, you may find hundreds or thousands of results. Are your customers likely to browse beyond the first 10 or 20? The bottom line is that your Web site must place in the top 20 listings to be found.

Learn what really works! Westlake Webmaster and Senior Internet Instructor Greg Myer drills down to the heart of generating superior customer traffic now.

The following subjects will be touched upon during the meeting:
  • What are the two major classes of search services, and how differences between the two impact search engine strategies
  • Which search services are currently used by 95% of all Web surfers, and what optimization strategies actually work best for each
  • How to analyze the structure of Web pages and best utilize content, keywords, tags/attributes, meta tags and more for superior search engine positioning
  • How to leverage Web page content for proper keyword density, relevance and placement
  • What are the best methods for submitting listing requests to Web directories
  • What is the importance of link popularity
  • What practices are considered unethical by search services and may adversely affect Web page placements
  • Which software tools are best for measuring both customer traffic and the position of your listings with major search services
  • And much more!
