DCWW's Outreach Events

DC Web Women continues its commitment to outreach in the community as we offer the programs designed especially for young women in media.

Our Child Education Events are called Girls Rock on the Web (GROW), and we offer several programs a year to promote new skills in young women and to encourage them to explore technology.

DC Web Women were at the "Family Day: Celebrate Women in Aviation & Space" event at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport on March 17, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Chantilly, Virginia. Find out more!

DC Web Women participated in Girl Scout Day on March 25, 2006.

Girls Rock at Design at Westlake in Dec. 2004

In December 2004, DC Web Women offered a Girls Rock at Design program at Westlake. The event was for girls, ages 10 -17, to learn how to develop and design some basic products.

The girls were asked about their experience, thoughts and ideas about design, computer skill, etc. A team of professional designers shared some comments about what it's like to be a professional designer. The lead designer explained the project for the evening and showed the basics for Photoshop and how to use the templates that were developed by the design team in advance.
