It's the New Year. You've joined a health club, started a new diet and generated a host of New Year's resolutions. But what about your Work-life? Have you thought about what you'd like it to look like by December 2009? Or, better yet, 2014? Where would you like to be in five years? What is your plan for getting there? What steps are you taking to achieve your goals?

Over the years, in leading Work-life groups and helping individuals codify and implement their work-life plans, I have found that there are three critical ingredients to successfully achieving Work-life goals. These include: establishing goals, monitoring progress and finding ongoing, focused, support for achieving your goals.
</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.dcwebwomen.org/life-at-work-current/2008/11/20/6-steps-to-happy-holidays.html"><rss:title>6 Steps to Happy Holidays</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.dcwebwomen.org/life-at-work-current/2008/11/20/6-steps-to-happy-holidays.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Happy Holidays Life At Work Life-Work Balance anxiety boss family holiday organize shopping stress work</dc:subject>

by Dr. Lynn Friedman

The holidays are coming but not all of your family and friends are in
the holiday spirit. Some have been recently laid off and are
feverishly job hunting in an, at best, sluggish market. Those in
large businesses worry that lay off is imminent and those in small
businesses may lament a downturn in profits. Some own homes that are
"upside down", others may be anxiously in over their heads with an
interest only mortgage, still others can't get the credit that they
need to buy. For many money is tight.

Add these anxieties about the world economic state to the deeply held
wish for a happy holiday and you recognize that that having "happy
holidays" may require a little more effort this year.
