Mailing List Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
These questions and answers should help answer the most common mailing list-related questions. If you have more questions about the mailing list, email us, and we will be happy to help!
We'll start with your top questions:
- Is the membership only open to women? Yes, we have always been a women-only organization. Some of our events are open to non-members, and the event announcements will say non-members may join us. Men interested in a similar organization can join Capital PC Users Group (CPCUG) at http://www.cpcug.org/ CPCUG offers great classes, helpful tutorials, and various email lists.
- Where the heck are the archives? I've looked all over the DCWW Web site, but I couldn't find them. In an effort to keep the archives private – and available only to DCWW members – the list archives are not available from the site. But accessing the archives is simple. Just check the footer of any DCWW message. Look for the words manage your subscription and click the link.
You'll need to log in with the e-mail address and password you used when you first subscribed.- I still can't find the archives. Tell me what to do. Once you've clicked the link in the footer of any DCWW message and logged in, click the Subscriber's Corner link at the top of the screen. On the next page, you'll need to click a second Subscriber's Corner link at the top of the left-hand column.
Now click Archive Search, enter your search criteria, and click the Submit button.- How do I unsubscribe? To unsubscribe, temporarily suspend your subscription, or change your preferences, click the link in the footer of any DCWW message. See the questions and answers below for additional information.
Do you have additional questions about your subscription? Please review these list FAQs:
1| I'm having some problems with my subscription. What should I do?
First, see if your problem is addressed on this page. If it isn't, just send an email message to listadmin@dcwebwomen.org and we will be glad to help you out!
2| I'm not receiving any messages.
Are your messages being filtered to your junk mail or "known spam" folder? This happens a lot, especially with Hotmail and Gmail accounts. Adjust your junk filter settings to allow messages from the list.
If you coontinue to expperince problems, please email us!
3| I signed up for the digest version of the list but I am still getting individual messages.
Please check your settings in your Subscriber's Corner:
- Before your first visit to the Subscriber's Corner, create a password at:
http://lists.dcwebwomen.org/SCRIPTS/WA-DCWEB.EXE?GETPW1. Make sure you use the email address that you subscribed with. - After confirming your password, log on to the Subscriber's Corner at http://lists.dcwebwomen.org/SCRIPTS/WA-DCWEB.EXE?REPORT&z=3. Click the list name to review and change your settings.
4| My Subscriber's Corner page says I don't belong to any lists.
If you are, in fact, receiving messages, then you logged on to the Subscriber's Corner with the wrong address. You must log on with the same address you used to subscribe to the list to display your information. Create a new password with the email address you subscribed with.
5| How do I unsubscribe from the list?
Visit Subscriber Corner as described in #3, click on the list you want to access, and you will be on a page that begins: "Join or Leave the DCWW List". Choose "Leave DCWW." You should now be unsubscribed.
6| I don't think my message posted to the list.
Did you send the message to the right address? The addresses are:
- dcww@lists.dcwebwomen.org for the main list.
- dcww-s@lists.dcwebwomen.org for the social list.
Is your subscription set so you receive copies of your messages? Log on to your Subscriber's Corner and, under Acknowledgements, check the button for "Receive Copy of Own Postings."
Check the archive to see if the message is there. You can get to the archive from the Subscriber's Corner. If the message is in the archive, then you can rest assured it made it to the list.
