If there were a person whom local Web designer Lola Lee had to say was most like her, she would pick former Miss America Heather Whitestone. She relates to Whitestone
because they are both hearing-impaired and have gone on to live their dreams.
Lola reveals this little bit of herself and more on her personal Web site, where she posts a passage on "being with deaf people" ... a passage she wrote after finding that "often people
don't really know how to talk to a deaf person, or are really afraid to do
so."
Lola relishes breaking down barriers, both personally and professionally. This life-long
metro-area resident now pioneers the Web for the Quantum Research Corporation.
When Lola isn't busy programming at work on a Windows-based PC, you can find her at home Web coding on her gray Mac G3 or pecking away on her Palm III.
She gives her keyboard fingers and mind occasional breaks by knitting, spinning and dyeing.
She enjoys her hobbies because she gets a "chance to be creative with texture and
colors," and she looks forward to going to the Maryland Sheep and
Wool Festival the first
weekend in May.
Lola is also very active in the St. Nicholas Orthodox Russian Church community of Washington, D.C. She is developing a bilingual Web site for the church that is set to debut later this April in both Russian
and English.
Lola wants her colleagues in DC Web Women to know she is never too busy
to take the time to help others with problems in Web design. The memories
of starting out online remain vividly fresh. Lola Lee can be reached at:
