Member Spotlight: Diane Black
Programming Committee member and Reston/Herndon lunch bunch coordinator, Diane Black is this month's featured wrrl. She is the owner and senior designer of seven-year-old Eloquent Design. Begun as a service for businesses that outsourced wordprocessing/DTP/graphic design and marketing support, the focus of offerings changed when a client asked for help with a large website project. After a crash course in HTML, Diane took up the challenge and says that, "Since then, that's about all I ever do."
With her background in art and design, she thoroughly enjoys this new business focus in new media. Diane has since enhanced her skills by learning CGI, Flash, and e-commerce systems. On the business side, she says she's quite adept at "project management, Internet marketing, client discovery sessions, and concept development."
Prior to working in new media, Diane had studied art therapy, which required learning about both psychology and art. She used that training when she worked in the field of program development and implementation for the mentally retarded, handicapped, and physically disabled populations. Even more so, Diane says, "I find that my studies and experience have greatly enhanced my understanding of successful design, marketing, and web usability strategies."
Diane has worked on numerous sites, including:
