DC Web Women Members in the News

exciting things that our group and our other members have been doing around
town.

- Michaela Platzer, President of Content First, a
public policy research services firm, authored the Software &
Information Industry Association's new report, Software and
Information: Driving the Global Knowledge Economy. SIIA is the principal
trade association for the software and digital content industry.
- Kathy Jentz was featured in the Washington Post. Kathy has been a big supporter and longtime member of DC Web Women. She is founder of the magazine Washington Gardener.
- Lynn Friedman,
Ph.D., is now a columnist for Washington Business Journal. Check

- March 2006: DCWW's own "E-Commerce Diva," Jamila White, has won a total of $4,000 in prize money to start j.blossom and Co., her new business venture: $1,500 from Rockville Economic Development Inc.'s StartRight! Business Plan Competition for Women Entrepreneurs and $2,500 from the Miller Brewing Co. Young Urban Entrepreneurs Business Plan Competition.

- Kristina Ackley is one to watch! She was featured in the 2-4-02 "At Work" column for the Washington Post and, her latest book, Online Web Design, will be featured in the online version of PC World in the next few weeks . Way to go, Kristina!
- Congratulations to: Beverly Bricker/Maryland Public Television, Site Executive Producer, Jamila White/White & Associates, Inc., Site Producer & Writer, Layla Masri/Bean Creative, Inc., Site Design & Programming, who collaborated on MPT "Sense and Dollars" which won the coveted
"Eddie" award from PBS for educational excellence!

- Thunderlizard's Photoshop Conference this past June in Washington, DC,
our own Tracy Keaton Drew was a Speaker!
- On March 7th, CN8 Newsmakers Television's interview with DC Web Women Member, Karen Ellis, founder of the
Educational CyberPlayGround, will begin airing.
- On February 4th, our own DC Web Women Columnist and Legal Expert, Donellda Rice, Esq., was the main presenter and moderator at a seminar on contracts sponsored by the National Procurement Management Association in Tempe, Arizona. The attendance was 2000, with 120 satellite downlinks.

- Alycia Eck was quoted in a New
York Times Circuit section article on site usability.
- Kristina Ackley, author of 100 Top Internet Job Sites, president
of Gryphon Communications, and electronic PR manager for Network Solutions,
was featured in the Post's
@ Work Column and on NPR's
Public Interest show.
- Yep, that's right, Lisa King is at it again, this time with another
online
chat at the Post? Does she ever sleep?!
- Writer and DC Web Woman, Sacha Cohen, has a recent article
on techound.com that features DCWW.
- Long time DCWW member and supporter, Joanna Pineda, recently participated
in an online
chat on WashingtonJobs.com
about breaking into the high tech industry and start up companies.
- DCWW member, Krissi Jimroglou, won the 1999 WIN
Young Women of Achievement Award. Two of our other members, Leslie
Forte and Jasmine Sante were also nominated for the award.
- Our fearless leader, Lisa King,
recently took part in an online
