Here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions about the DC Web Women mailing lists. If you have other questions about the DCWW mailing lists, please contact us.
1| I’m having some problems with my subscription. What should I do?
First, see if your problem is addressed on this page. If it isn’t, just send an email message to info@dcwebwomen.org and we’ll be glad to help you!
2| Can you tell me why I’m not receiving any messages?
Are your messages being filtered to your junk mail/spam folder? That happens a lot, especially with Hotmail and Gmail accounts. Adjust your junk-mail filter settings to allow messages from the list.
If you continue to experience problems, please email us!
3| Why am I still receiving individual messages even though I signed up for the digest version of the list?
Please check your settings in your Subscriber’s Corner by following these steps:
- Before your first visit to the Subscriber’s Corner, create a password at http://lists.dcwebwomen.org/SCRIPTS/WA-DCWEB.EXE?GETPW1. Make sure you use the email address that you used when you first subscribed.
- After confirming your password, log on to the Subscriber’s Corner at http://lists.dcwebwomen.org/SCRIPTS/WA-DCWEB.EXE?REPORT&z=3. Click the list name to review and change your settings.
4| Why does my Subscriber’s Corner page says I don’t belong to any lists?
If, in fact, you are receiving messages, then you logged on to the Subscriber’s Corner with the wrong email address. To display your information, you must log on with the same address you used when you first subscribed to the list. Create a new password with the email address you used when you subscribed.
5| How do I unsubscribe from the list?
Visit the Subscriber’s Corner as described in question #3, click on the list you want to access, and you will be on a page that begins “Join or Leave the DCWW List.” – Choose “Leave DCWW.” You should now be unsubscribed.
6| Can you check to see if my message posted to the list?
Did you send the message to the right address?
- For the Tech List, use dcww@lists.dcwebwomen.org.
- For the Social List, use dcww-s@lists.dcwebwomen.org.
Is your subscription set for you to receive copies of your messages? Log on to your Subscriber’s Corner, go to “Acknowledgements,” and check the button for “Receive Copy of Own Postings.”
Check the archive to see if your message is there. You can get to the archives from the Subscriber’s Corner. If the message is in the archives, then you can rest assured it made it to the list.
7| Where are the archives?
In an effort to keep the archives private — and available only to DCWW members — the list archives are not available from the public site. But accessing the archives is simple. Just check the footer of any DCWW message. Look for the words manage your subscription and click the link.
You’ll need to log in with the e-mail address and password you used when you first subscribed.
8| I still can’t find the archives. Where should I go?
Once you’ve clicked the link in the footer of any DCWW message and logged in, click the Subscriber’s Corner link at the top of the screen. On the next page, you’ll need to click a second Subscriber’s Corner link at the top of the left-hand column.
Now click “Archive Search,” enter your search criteria, and click the “Submit” button.
If you are still encountering issues with your subscription, please contact the list administrator.
